Coaching appointments for national representative teams 2024/2524 January 2024
With great excitement, New Zealand Mens & Mixed Netball Association would like to officially announce the coaching staff for the 2024-2025 seasons. New Zealand Net Blacks, Head Coach – Helene Wilson Helene brings a huge wealth of experience and sporting knowledge. She is a highly skilled coach and has worked with NZ’s top netball athletes. Notably, she was Head Coach of the Northern Mystics, where she tasted success in 2021 by winning the ANZ Premiership. She has since joined NZ High-Performance Sport as Manager, Women in High Performance Sport. Her passion for giving knowledge and helping to achieve success will be a huge asset to our national side. New Zealand Net Blacks, Assistant Coach – Tania Anderson NZMMNA would also like to announce Tania Anderson as Assistant Coach for the Net Blacks. Tania comes with extensive knowledge and experience with Men’s and Mixed Netball, having won numerous titles both nationally and internationally. Her professionalism and dedication will complement Helene and team management. FAST5, Head Coach – Taz (Tash) Tawhara NZMMNA welcomes Taz Tawhara in her new role as Head Coach for FAST5. Taz has had great success with FAST5 as an Assistant Coach role and now takes up the Head Coach position. Taz has coached in the men's game at the national level with Cook Strait U23s, winning the National U23 title three times. She has also coached internationally with the NZ U23 Men's team and also Indoor Netball with the Open Women's team. We are very lucky to have Taz in our coaching ranks. FAST5, Assistant Coach – Pete McInnes We welcome Pete McInnes as the Assistant Coach for FAST5. Pete has extensive coaching experience and he has coached in the former BEKO Netball League with Mainland. Pete played netball for Canterbury and Auckland previously. Pete works at Netball Northern as the Athlete Development and Pathways Lead. Pete will bring experience and knowledge from his men's netball background. Mixed Open, Head Coach – Sarah Michelle Hansen-Vaeau Sarah Michelle is one of NZMMNA's most successful coaches. She had won national titles in both forms of Men’s and Mixed tournaments including the International Trans-Tasman series and Oceania International tournament. Sarah Michelle has also coached at Premier Club and Secondary School levels and within the South Auckland community. She is a strong advocate for Diversity and Inclusion in Men’s and Mixed Netball. She is passionate about netball and providing opportunities to support the rainbow community. 23 and Under Men’s, Head Coach – Pete McInnes Pete has extensive coaching experience and has coached in the former BEKO Netball League with Mainland. Pete played netball for Canterbury and Auckland previously. Pete works at Netball Northern as the Athlete Development and Pathways Lead. Pete will bring experience and knowledge from his men's netball background. He is also the Assistant Coach for FAST5 for 2024/2025. 20 and Under Men’s, Head Coach – Taz (Tash) Tawhara Taz Tawhara is the Head coach for NZMMNA U20’s Men's team. Taz coached in the Men's game at the national level with Cook Strait U23s, winning the National U23 title three times. She has also coached internationally with the NZ U23 Men's team. NZMMNA is very fortunate to have Taz support our young players coming through. Under 20’s Men, Assistant Coach – Michael Gray Michael Gray is the assistant coach for the U20s team. This is Michael’s first coaching position with NZMMNA. Michael has extensive coaching experience with the NZ Defence Force and also with club netball. Michael is passionate about coaching and wants to impart his netball knowledge to the next generation of players coming through. We welcome Michael to NZMMNA. NZ Development team, – Ali Colledge – Head Coach Another new face to NZMMNA coaching staff, Ali is one of our fresh exciting coaches coming through New Zealand Men's & Mixed Netball. Ali is from Wellington and has a remarkable wealth of knowledge. In her short time, Ali has already tasted success at the national level in 2023. Ali coached Wellington to win the NZMMNA Men’s A grade title for the first time in 22 years - a massive achievement for Wellington Men’s Netball and the entire region. We congratulate our coaching staff and support this new-look coaching group of NZMMNA as we look forward to exciting 2024-2025 seasons. |

NZ Under 23's NZ Under 23’s Coach is Taz (Tash) Tawhara NZ Under 20's NZ Under 20’s Coach is Sarah Michelle Hansen-Vaeau This process has been undertaken as per the NZMMNA High Performance, International Teams and Appointments Policy, where the Appointments Panel interviewed all applicants and made a final recommendation to the NZMMNA Board. The Board subsequently met & have endorsed the Appointments Panels’ recommendations.
